Rangers finish last, fight for top in Premiership

OneStaff PN Marist have now opened up a five point lead at the top of the table after winning 2-1 away at Taradale AFC, Hannah Buzan scoring a double to continue to lead the Golden Boot race by three goals. Isles Construction Massey University FC had the Bye but have two games in hand from PN Marist but will need maximum points from these to stay in title contention. The other match was hosted by NP Rangers AFC against Team McGhie Football Whanganui with the Taranaki side picking up the 1-0 win thanks to a Holly Kleinsman first half goal.

Lotto Central Federation League

2021 Champions Havelock North Wanderers have finished the season off in style with a 1-0 win at home over Waikanae Beach Top10 Gisborne Thistle after Dakota Lucas banged home a late winner in the 85th minute. Watsons PN Marist have finished Runners Up after a great campaign which ended in a 4-0 away win at Peggy Gordons NP Rangers with Nicholas Carrick netting a hat trick to secure the Golden Boot title with 25 strikes for the year. Turbine Residential Ltd North End have finished sixth after picking up another home win this time 5-1 against Alexander Electric Napier Marist with the goals being shared around the team. The battle for third place is still going after GJ Gardner Homes Whanganui Athletic drew 2-2 with Isles Construction Massey University FC, the point was enough for Athletic to move past Thistle into third. Massey will play their last game against Levin AFC this weekend in a catch up game and Massey will need a good win to move from fifth up to as high as third.

Yorb Taranaki Men’s Premiership

TMT Building Ltd Moturoa have closed the gap to FC Western at the top of the table after two big wins from the weekend. On Saturday Moturoa had a 10-1 win when hosting Novotel Woodleigh with a hat trick to Hayden Murray and a brace to Tyler Buckland. On Sunday Moturoa hosted Atlas NP Rangers in a catch up match with Moturoa winning 5-0 thanks to a double from Hayden Murray who took five goals from the weekend. NP Rangers also played on the Saturday when they went down 2-0 to Cross Country Rental NPBHS 1st XI and the only other match played on Saturday was Peringa United’s 2-0 away win at Smith & Sons Eltham, Colin Campbell netting both for Peringa. Inglewood AFC defaulted to Proglaze Waitara and Cunningham Construction Kaitake FC defaulted to Rampage Fitness FC Western.

Taranaki Men’s Championship

Things are heating up for the title in the Men’s Championship with a showdown this weekend between the two front runners. Peringa Pirates have regained top spot after winning 9-0 away at Paul Hamlin Builders Eltham with Allan Boere scoring three and Bryn Kearton twice. Millwards Roofing FC Western have dropped back into second on goal difference with a game in hand but did win 8-1 when hosting Kaitake FC, Alex Best rocketing home a hat trick. A win for FC Western over Peringa this weekend would give them the title otherwise it may go down to the catch up game. Rough Habits Hawera remain in third after a nice 3-0 home win over Inglewood AFC and TreeHouse NP Rangers drew 2-2 with Premier Heating NPBHS 2nd XI. The final match saw Western Autos Moturoa move up into fourth on the ladder after winning 9-0 when hosting Spectrum Decorating Services Ltd Woodleigh thanks to a double hat trick from Dylan Coutts.

Taranaki Men’s Division 1

A similar situation is brewing in the Men’s Division 1 as the two leaders also have a showdown this weekend which could decide the title. Withers Coachlines FDMC Senior Team remain top after winning their match 8-0 away at Mark Frost Electrical Hawera thanks to a four goal haul by Josh Goble and a hat trick by Mehul Killa with second placed NP Rangers Oddbodz having the Bye. Wonder Minerals Kaponga got all three points away at KP Joinery Waitara with a score a 4-1 and Withers Coachlines Moturoa played out a 2-2 draw with Landmark Homes FDMC Development Team with doubles to Karl Reid for Moturoa and William Poole for FDMC.

Taranaki Men’s Division 2

Champions Taranaki Thru Tubing NP Rangers had another good win this time 7-0 at home over Stratford, Callum Metcalfe scored a triple with doubles to Dean Cumberledge and Bret De Faria. Marty Suchy @Bayleys FC Western defended the Challenge Trophy 7-1 against Vertech NZ Kaitake HB’s, John Breen and Brent Youngson scoring braces for Western. The other two games ended in deadlocks with Town & Country Foods Waitara drawing 1-1 when hosting Taranaki Tyre Torque Woodleigh and 4U Computer Solutions Hawera drew 3-3 at home over Inglewood AFC, Mark Eveleigh getting two goals for Inglewood. Pipeline Peringa had the Bye and play FC Western this weekend in a battle for the Runner Up title. Last Wednesday night Stratford defeated Inglewood 5-3 in a catch up match from Round 14, Luke Snellgrove bagged a triple and Jamie Pretty a double.

Tungsten Legal Taranaki Women’s Premiership

Excel Refrigeration Moturoa are now just one point away from claiming the Premiership title after winning 7-0 away at Inglewood AFC thanks to four goals from Golden Boot leader Fernanda Toscani. Hipp Accounting Hawera are looking likely to be Runners Up in the league after they won 6-4 away at Naki Electrical Waitara in a thrilling match, a brace to Jasmine Burnard-Leppinus for Waitara with hat tricks to Janelle Wright and Rachel Porteous for Hawera. New Plymouth Girls’ High School will have a top three finish after winning 3-0 at home against Bullitt Fabrications Eltham, Tungsten Legal Stratford had a 2-0 home win over Worley Woodleigh and in the last match Liquid Beanz Peringa won 3-2 away at NP Rangers with Magdalene Herlihy getting both consolation goals for Rangers.
