Boys High draw with Motoroa

Tungsten Legal Taranaki Women’s Premiership

TSH Moturoa have held on to the Challenge Trophy again with a 9-0 win over Tungsten Legal Stratford with Kate Phipps popping up again with four goals. NPGHS premier team join Moturoa at the top of the table after winning 7-0 away to Eltham. This sets up next weekend’s match where the two go head-to-head and try to stake a claim as early-season title favourites. Liquid Beanz Peringa got a solid 4-0 away win against Worley Woodleigh and Inglewood a hard-fought 1-0 win at home against Hipp Accounting Hawera. In the final match, there were goals for both sides as Naki Electrical Waitara lost at home 3-6 to EZE Wash NP Rangers with braces to Tiann Jones for Waitara and Jennifer Stoiber for NP Rangers. 

Yorb Taranaki Men’s Premiership

In the top of the table clash including the Challenge Trophy between Flooring Design Moturoa and NPBHS 1st XI, the points were shared after a 1-1 draw leaving the trophy with Moturoa. They’re joined at the top of the table on 10 points by Rampage Fitness FC Western who played NP Rangers on Sunday at Yarrow Stadium. After being 1-3 down Western battled back to win 4-3 when Ben Furze struck two very late free-kicks to steal maximum points. Peringa United moved up into fourth on the ladder after beating Kitchen Draw Inglewood 3-1at Karo Park. This was Inglewood's first loss of the season.  Smith & Sons Eltham got their first points of the season getting past Proglaze Waitara  2-1 points of the season with a nice 5-1 win against Spectrum Decorating Woodleigh with Matt Kelbrick and Hamish Pittams collecting doubles for the visitors. 

Taranaki Men’s Championship 

TreeHouse NP Rangers managed to hang on to the Challenge Trophy 1-0 against Millwards Roofing FC Western but the stand-out match of the weekend was Cunningham Construction Kaitake defeating Eltham 12-0 with Paul Cunningham and David Gilmour both rocketing home hat-tricks. They sit on top of the ladder with a 100% record but NPBHS 2nd XI are also up there with a 100% record after they just got past Jones Quarry Moturoa 1-0. Bounceback Physio Peringa are sitting in third place after dispatching Inglewood 4-1. Vasish Koonjul scored a brace. The last match had Woodleigh winning 5-2 when they hosted Mark Frost Electrical Hawera, the main destroyer Joshua Wormald with a four-goal haul. 

Taranaki Men’s Division 1

NP Rangers Oddbodz shared the goals around and had a huge 9-0 win away to Withers Coachlines Moturoa to join the Peringa Pirates on top of the ladder who had the Bye. McDonald's Stratford got their first points for the season with a gritty 2-1 win over KP Joinery Waitara away and the last match ended in a 2-2 draw between FDMC Senior Team and Wonder Minerals Kaponga.

Taranaki Men’s Division 2

This league is shaping up to be a hotly contested competition going forward into the season. 2019 Champions Taranaki Thru Tubing NP Rangers sit at the top of the pile after holding on to the Challenge trophy with a 1-0 win over FC Western. Vertech NZ Kaitake had a good 5-1 win over Paul Hamlin Build Eltham, Pipeline Peringa were awarded the win over Inglewood, 4U Computer Solutions Hawera won 2-1 over Taranaki Tyre Torque Woodleigh and finally, Town & Country Waitara knocked over Stratford 3-2 at home.

Lotto Central Federation League:

Watsons PN Marist remain at the summit this week after a double by Nicholas Carrick saw his side grab a big 5-1 win over Levin AFC at the Arena Turf. Carrick leads the golden boot race so far this season with seven strikes but Peggy Gordons NP Rangers striker Mark McGrath is close on his heels after notching up a hat-trick on Sunday to sit on six goals for the season. McGrath’s side dispatched North End AFC at Yarrow Stadium 5-1 to collect their third straight win for the season and to sit in third place on the ladder. Building King Havelock North Wanderers hosted Breakers Red Sox over in the Hawke’s Bay with the home side getting a 4-0 win. Bjorn Christensen scored two late goals to inflate the scoreline. The final match of the round was between Isles Construction Massey FC and Alexander Electric Napier Marist. This ended in a 2-2 draw but was Massey’s first point of the season, Rhys Galyer netting a brace for Massey. Whanganui Athletic hang on to the second spot on the ladder after having the bye and will look forward to getting back out there against Massey in round 5. Also in round 5 PN Marist host Havelock North Wanderers, which could turn into an early season-defining match for the clubs as both have an eye on the title.

Women's Federation League

In the Women's Federation League last weekend, Moturoa played Whanganui. A hattrick to Moturoa's Eve Barry put the result cleanly in favour of the home side, taking the wind out of Whanganui's sails after a solid win the week before at Massey, who will now go away and regroup before their trip to Taradale this coming weekend. Taradale themselves will be looking to be on the bounce against Football Whanganui after their 0-2 loss to visiting Massey, with Melissa McKenna and Rebecca Otte claiming the goals for the visiting side, moving them up to second on the table, but still eight points shy of the rampant Moturoa.
