Taranaki clubs making the most of funding
Monday, May 25 2020

A total of 15 Taranaki clubs have made the most of Sport New Zealand’s funding, according to the region’s sports trust.
Between 11-18 May, $14,329 has been distributed to sporting clubs in Taranaki via the Community Resilience Fund, with a total of $25m available nationwide. The fund gives short-term relief for organisations all levels of sport and active recreation distributed by Sport Taranaki.
Clubs and sporting organisations can apply for the funding via Sport Taranaki’s website but they must meet certain criteria.
It is not intended for the National organisations that already receive investment directly from Sport NZ. Instead it is for the regional and local organisations that form their networks (i.e. clubs).
The Fund is for organisations that are already materially negatively impacted by COVID-19 restrictions and/or will be materially negatively impacted by COVID-19 restrictions for the period April to June 2020.
This means that;
- The organisation cannot pay bills for fixed administration costs (excluding wages) in the three months from 1 April to 30 June 2020.
- Even after accessing reserves and receiving other support from national body, government and others,
- As a result of lost income or income that is very likely to be delayed by more than six months, because of impacts of COVID-19 restrictions
Eligible organisations can apply for a maximum of $1000 for clubs and $40,000 for regional bodies.
