New Plymouth Rangers Federation League squad starts its pre-season this Saturday. the 18th of January, with a training camp. The best players in the region will report back to Merrilands Domain to begin the season with some testing, screening and technique work designed to have the players ready to go when the league gets underway.
The Federation League doesn’t kick off until the 29th of March, where Rangers will play newly promoted Levin at home, so the coaching team have more than two months to get the squad up to speed.
Rangers welcome back the majority of last years team which ended the campaign near the bottom in 10th place out of 11 teams.
“Last year's position will be motivation for a lot of players to get stuck into training early,” said club president Monty Ammundsen.
“There has been a lot of interest from players from around Taranaki in the off-season so hopefully this translates to a good squad coming together in the coming months.”
Strength and Conditioning coach, Oliver Jowsey and physiotherapist Stephen Lett, from Body Logic, return to the Rangers' set up and will have a big part to play in the pre-season.
“Lifting the standards of local football is our focus and having these two guys work closely with our unit provides huge benefits,” Ammundsen said.
Any interested players are welcome to attend the training camp by registering with club captain John Sigurdsson at nprangersafc@gmail.com
