General: Roadshow to help clubs tackle funding, climate pressures

Taranaki sport, recreation and community organisations are being offered practical help to prepare for funding pressures, changing expectations and the growing impacts of climate change.

The Taranaki Facilities Consortium (TFC) will take its free A Way Forward mini roadshow to Stratford, Hāwera and New Plymouth over three nights in September.

The sessions are aimed at club volunteers, facility managers, committee members and community leaders and will focus on helping organisations become more sustainable and better prepared for the future.

A key part of the roadshow will be the introduction of three recently published guides covering climate resilience, funding readiness and creating connected, adaptable and sustainable spaces.

The sessions will provide advice on preparing successful funding applications, getting more value from existing facilities and building resilience to the impacts of climate change.

Local examples will also be used to provide practical guidance, while attendees will have the opportunity to connect and share ideas with other organisations facing similar challenges.

The TFC brings together organisations involved in sport, funding, local government and community facilities across Taranaki.

Its members include Sport Taranaki, the region’s three district councils, Taranaki Regional Council, Toi Foundation, Taranaki Foundation, NZCT, Sport New Zealand and Venture Taranaki.

The roadshow begins at the TET MultiSports Centre in Stratford on Tuesday, September 15, from 6pm to 7.30pm.

It will move to the TSB Hub in Hāwera on Wednesday, September 16, from 5.30pm to 7pm, before finishing at Toi Foundation in New Plymouth on Thursday, September 17, from 5.30pm to 7pm.
