Squash: Kawaroa, a year to remember

Kawaroa Park Squash Club has declared 2025 a year to remember, achieving remarkable success on and off the court.
The club was honoured as both the Taranaki Sports Club of the Year and the Central Squash Club of the Year, highlighting its strong presence in the region.
Individual and team achievements stood out, with Janice Trevathan named Central Squash Women’s Masters Player of the Year.
Trevathan played a crucial role in the club’s C Grade Ladies’ national championship and was runner-up in her age group at the New Zealand Masters in Nelson.
The Central Junior Team, featuring standout player Sam Watson, won the Junior Teams Nationals for the first time in 20 years, earning the Central Team of the Year accolade.
National titles were a major highlight, with Kawaroa Park’s C Grade Ladies’ Team and B Grade Men’s Team both crowned national champions.
Adding to the club’s prestige, Mike Jack was inducted into the Central Hall of Fame, recognising his contribution as a national referee and a true legend of squash and Allan Bailey was Central Squash's referee of the year.
The club’s community spirit also flourished in 2025.
Growing participation rates among juniors and women, a popular Business House competition and well-attended Club Nights and Ladder Leagues created an inclusive and vibrant playing environment.
2025 marked a year of excellence, growth, and community at Kawaroa Park Squash Club, setting a solid foundation for continued success in the future.
