Volleyball: Positive placings for Taranaki sides

Taranaki was represented by six teams at the two North Island Secondary Schools Junior indoor volleyball tournaments held last week.
Spotswood College Boys and NPBHS represented the province at the main championship event held at the Bruce Pulman arena at Takanini.
After winning all three games on day one pool play Spotswood qualified for the Division One Top 16 championship. With two wins and four losses the Spotswood team finished in 12th place.
NPBHS recorded a win and two losses in their pool play games to qualify for the Division Two championships for teams 17-32. They then recorded five wins and a loss to finish in 5th place (21st overall).
All four Taranaki girls teams chose to compete in the North Island Satellite tournament that was played at Porirua.
All teams played nine pool games and a play-off game.
NPGHS recorded four wins and six losses to finish 8th, Waitara HS with six wins and four losses were 9th, Inglewood HS with four wins and six losses were 12th, while newcomers Sacred Heart Girls' College with a one win nine loss record to finish 18th.
