Golf: Rotorua take lead in school champs

Rotorua Boys High School led the NZ Secondary Schools Championship at Manukorihi at -5.
Kevin Bang led the team with a hot round of 68; Bang made an albatross on the Par 5 1st hole and added 5 birdies to his card to finish at 4 under with a 68.
Fellow teammate Francis Lockwood made 6 birdies and finished with a 1 under 71. Kings College is in second place at -4, with Ryan Xie leading the way with a 69, combining with Grace Zhan's 71 to be one shot off the lead.
The conditions were incredibly tough with a week of rain and a lightning exhibition overnight. Volunteers and green staff were out early this morning taking debris off the course. There were some perfectly executed shots played by the field with nine and 129 bridies made for the day
Macleans College sit tied for third with Samuel Ding 71 and Cherry Lee 74 combining nicely, Lee making an eagle on the 9th.
Connor Howes and Harvey O'Neil from John McGlashan College both made eagles on the Par 5 18th to finish 73 and 72 respectively and are also at +1 with Macleans College.
NPBHS is in 15th position with Jackson Moorhead's round of 76, and Jamie Anderson's 80, counting towards the overall team score, and FDMC is in 17th. Oliver Winstanley finished with two birdies to shoot 79 and Jack Hopkins's 80.
