Volleyball: Taranaki sends teams to volleyball champs

Volleyball Taranaki has entered four age-group teams in the 2024 Volleyball New Zealand Inter-Provincial Championships that will be played at the ASB Stadium, Kilbirnie, Wellington this King’s birthday holiday weekend.

A total of 76 representative teams (40 Mens’ and 36 Womens’) will participate in this year’s three-day championships.

Mens’ and Womens’ teams will contest Under 17, Under 19, Under 23 and Senior grades.

The Taranaki teams are:

Under 17 Boys’:

Wairangi Davey (Captain), Dhio Yoshimura (vice-captain), Ollie Smith, (Spotswood College), Astin Pope, Sammi Annane (NPBHS), Carter Lucinsky, Rowan Lucinsky (Inglewood HS), Jaxon McDonald, Charles Jemenez, Ethan Hagley (Te Paepae o Aotea).

Under 19 Men’s:

Zalan Lizen (Captain), Balint Molnar (Spotswood College), Kaleb Hinton, Malachy Herlihy, Cullen Bouterey, Flynn Schrider, Tommy Li (NPBHS), Mason Kempton (vice-captain), Marshall Fearson, Reeve MacRae (Te Paepae o Aotea), Lucas Heggie.

Under 19 Womens’:

Gold team:

Erica Thompson (Captain), Meisha Hopkinson, Ava Topping, Lila Corral (NPGHS), Samantha Hart (vice-captain), Anna Clough, Aliana Scholey, Scarlett Dinnis and Haruna Saito (Spotswood College).

Black team:

Chelsea Gartner (Captain), Tia Christiansen, Jean Smiley, Lola Crawshaw (Spotswood College), Madeleine Leeks (vice-captain), Melanie Avery, Emma Hale, Tatyana Ibarra-Antioquia (NPGHS)
