Rugby: Maifea remains as Taranaki Whio coach

The Central Roofing Taranaki Whio coaching group is set for the 2024 Farah Palmer Cup season, presented by Bunnings Warehouse.
Led by Head Coach Maifea Maifea, this experienced group is looking to build on the 2023 season and build a culture of success for Taranaki women's players.
He is again joined by forwards coach Lance White and backs coach Kerry Eynon.
A new addition to the 2024 coaching group sees ex Yarrows Taranaki Bulls Backs Coach, Tim Stuck, joining on as a technical advisor for the Central Roofing Taranaki Whio, bringing a wealth of technical knowledge and expertise to the coaching group.
The Central Roofing Taranaki Whio had a mixed showing in the 2023 Farah Palmer Cup season. However, the coaching team, would have been proud of how the team finished the season.
Despite facing tough opposition, the Central Roofing Taranaki Whio showcased their talent and resilience, winning against North Harbour and pushing Tasman to the 80th minute in the quarter final.
With a young side, the 2024 coaching group are hoping the Central Roofing Taranaki Whio's end of season performances will set a solid foundation for future success.
"I'm looking forward to the 2024 season. We have a buncg of young talent coming through and we'll be keeping a close eye on them playing CMK club rugby. Off the back of last season, I have some fresh ideas and can't wait to work with the group," Maifea said.
Stuck’s role is crucial in ensuring that the team is well-prepared tactically and strategically for each match. Stuck's attention to detail will be instrumental in giving the side an edge throughout the 2024 season.
"I'm excited to be involved with a dedicated team of coaches and players. I hope I can add value to the preparation and growth of the Central Roofing Taranaki Whio team, helping create success on and off the field," he said.
Within the Taranaki Rugby academy and throughout CMK Club Rugby, potential Central Roofing Taranaki Whio players will be looking to stake their claim on a jersey as the season progresses.
The 2024 Farah Palmer Cup season, presented by Bunnings Warehouse, is set to kick off on the 9th of August.
The Central Roofing Taranaki Whio schedule features a South Taranaki Venture, which is a historic match at the TSB Hub in Hawera which is the home ground and hometown for several of the girls. A family friendly double header match day where the Central Roofing Taranaki Whio and Yarrows Taranaki Bulls both tackle Otago.
