Club football week 18 review

Lotto Central Federation League

Men’s Federation League Champions GJ Gardner Homes Whanganui Athletic had their coronation at Wembley Park on Saturday as they hosted Isles Construction Massey University FC and they didn’t disappoint their home crowd with a 7-1 victory capped off with braces to Joshua Smith, Zachary Farmer plus Perry Stewart. Watson Integrity PN Marist FC have locked away second place for the season winning 2-0 at home against ALH Gisborne Thistle with Melvin Rumere scoring again and looking to secure the Golden Boot for 2022 on 15 strikes. Turbine Residential Ltd North End AFC have finished third as they also won 2-0 when hosting Levin AFC and the placing now gets them in the Chinese Cup battle against PN Marist in 2023. The final match was the Hawke’s Bay derby between Napier City Rovers and Alexander Electric Napier Marist at Bluewater Stadium in which Marist won 3-0 to make sure they finished above Rovers in fifth for the year. There is one more catch up match from Round 11 to be played this weekend between Napier City Rovers and North End AFC before we sign off from the league in 2022. 

Women’s Federation League

Isles Construction Massey University FC snatched a 1-0 away win over PN Marist FC with an own goal settling the result and although it was both sides last league match they both have Semi Finals coming up in the Federation Cup soon. NP Rangers AFC have won 4-1 away to Team McGhie Football Whanganui thanks to a hat trick from Mya Watkins and Rangers now need one more point to finish runners up in 2022. The two sides will play each other again this weekend at the same venue Wembley Park in the Round 5 catch up match before the league is closed for 2022. Newly crowned Champions Taradale had the Bye and put their feet up before their Federation Cup Semi Final against Massey in a couple of weeks. 

Yorb Taranaki Men’s Premiership

Only three matches were completed over the weekend in the Men’s Premiership with Peringa United still having a game in hand pushing hard for the second place position after they won 5-2 when hosted by Novotel Woodleigh FC, Colin Campbell and Brad Hickling both getting doubles. Rough Habits Hawera FC and TMT Building Ltd Moturoa AFC played out a 2-2 draw which will impact both sides finishing positions and in the final game played Premier Heating NPBHS 1st XI won 3-1 away to KP Joinery Waitara SC. Smith & Sons Eltham AFC defaulted to Atlas Professionals NP Rangers AFC which keeps Rangers in second and FC Western had the Bye. 

Taranaki Men’s Championship

The Men’s Championship will now go down to the final games of the season with three teams still in the mix for the title. Cunningham Construction Kaitake FC continue to lead the pack after they got a hard fought 2-1 win away at Trafficr NP Rangers AFC. Western Autos Moturoa AFC remain in second as they won 8-0 away over Mark Frost Electrical Hawera FC thanks to a hat trick to Dylan Coutts and five goals to Tyler Webber. Third place Millwards Roofing FC Western have locked away the Challenge Trophy for 2022 after getting a late winner to secure a 1-0 win against Inglewood AFC with the loss to Inglewood putting them out of the title race. Smart Rehab & Physio Peringa United won 4-0 when hosted by Spectrum Decorating Services Woodleigh FC with the goals being shared around and in the final match Landmark Homes FDMC Senior Team won 1-0 at home against fellow school side Cross Country Rental NPBHS 2nd XI. 

Taranaki Men’s Division 1

The Men’s Division 1 trophy is now Shining Peak NP Rangers Oddbodz to lose after they opened up a three point gap at the top of the table with a 7-2 away win at Withers Coachlines FDMC Development Team, Ben Dowman getting a brace for Rangers. This is because Taranaki Thru Tubing NP Rangers AFC defeated second place side FC Western Flaming Wolverines 2-1 at Lynmouth Park with the win keeping Thru Tubing in the mix to maybe steal the title from their club mates if Oddbodz don’t win their Round 18 match. Two goals from Anthony Kilpatrick has helped Proglaze Waitara SC secure the 3-2 home victory over McDonalds Real Estate Stratford AFC and two goals from Mason Woods got Inglewood AFC the 3-0 win when hosting Withers Coachlines Moturoa AFC. The final match ended in a 3-3 draw between Wonder Minerals Kaponga SC and Paul Hamlin Builders Eltham AFC with all the goals being shared around. 

Taranaki Men’s Division 2

Marty Suchy Harcourts FC Western have won the Men’s Division 2 title with one game to spare after winning 8-1 at home over Inglewood AFC with most of the goals being shared around apart from a double from Brent Youngson. Pipeline Peringa United continue to look like finishing second after defeating Rob Mason Electrical Group Woodleigh FC 5-1 with David Peterson netting twice. This is because third and fourth placed teams Egmont Texturers NP Rangers AFC and Webber Building Kaitake FC HB’s played out a 1-1 draw. 4U Computer Solutions Hawera FC drew 3-3 with Peringa United Socials, Mario Diedricks bagging a brace for Peringa and in the final match Stratford AFC got the 1-0 away win at Town & Country Foods Waitara SC. 

Tungsten Legal Taranaki Women’s Premiership Top 6

NPGHS 1st XI look to finish the season Runners Up after winning 5-2 against Hipp Accounting Hawera FC with Frieda Wilson and Riley Packman netting doubles for the school side. In the other match played TSH Moturoa AFC won 2-0 away to O.P.S Ltd Waitara SC with NP Rangers AFC defaulting to Excel Refrigeration Moturoa AFC.

Tungsten Legal Taranaki Women’s Premiership Bottom 6

Inglewood AFC has finished top of the Bottom 6 league with a 8-0 away victory over Bullitt Fabrications Eltham AFC thanks to four goals from Adelaide Campbell and two from Nicole Gibson. Liquid Beanz Peringa United secured the Runners Up tag after a 9-0 win when hosting Tungsten Legal Stratford AFC, Hannah Andrews and Emily Cunningham both getting hat tricks with Hannah Gilberd a brace. Worley Woodleigh FC defaulted the other match to Kaitake FC.
