Taranaki men’s cricket team named

Travis Stewart

After a couple of seasons frustrated by weather The Good Home Taranaki Men’s side are looking forward to getting their season underway in a couple of weeks’ time.

There is a change at the helm with prolific run scorer Dean Robinson taking over the captaincy from Mattie Thomas. The top order will have a familiar look to it with Robinson and Sebastian Lauderdale-Smith likely to open with Stratfords Liam Muggeridge at 3. Taranaki welcome back Bailey Wisnewski who had a very good club season in Wellington last year and he should fit into the middle order nicely. Josh Borrell is still recovering from injury and has not been named in the squad.

Ryan Watson a now senior member of the team will take on a greater responsibility with the new ball, especially now that Ethan Keller has withdrawn due to family commitments this season. He will be partnered with Shay Smith with the rest of the pace attack looking to be young and inexperienced at this level.

The Good Home Taranaki Men’s team will kick off their season on October 30th with the first round of the Furlong Cup in Napier against the current Hawke Cup holders Hawkes Bay.
